Supports community development defined by the achievement of organizational, economic, environmental, and social success to improve the quality of life of the northern and aboriginal Manitobians.
Facilitates the administration of municipal powers conferred to the Minister in accordance with the Northern Affairs Act.
Facilitates delivery of a capital infrastructure program, placing strong emphasis on safe water, sewage treatment, public health, safety and environmental standards.
Local government Development Division: Regional offices are responsible to the Executive Director in matters relating to:
- The provision of consulting and advisory services in areas of municipal administration, planning and delivery of local services.
- The coordination of service delivery by government departments.
- The maintenance of communication links with community councils and other organizations.
- The facilitation of partnerships with other governments, departments, and agencies to enhance social, economic and environmental aspects of community living.
